Pain varies by placement and individual tolerance. Bony or sensitive areas (ribs, spine, inner arm, ankles) tend to be more intense; fleshy areas are generally more manageable. Most people find the experience very tolerable once they settle in.

His foremost speciality is Pattachitra-inspired sacred work — deities, cosmic geometries, and natural motifs drawn from the ancient scroll-painting tradition of Odisha. He also practises Traditional Japanese Tattooing (Irezumi), the centuries-old art of bold, iconographic imagery — koi, dragons, oni, peony, and wave — executed with the weight and intention that earned Irezumi its place as one of the world's great tattoo traditions. Alongside these, Mourya takes on detailed blackwork, fine-line, and figurative compositions.
